Sharing

Each diagram has a roster of people, named by email, and the permission each one holds. There are no public links: only people on the roster can open a diagram.

Owner, editor and reader. A reader can view, an editor can also change the diagram, and the owner can also manage the roster.

A reader sees a Read-only badge in the editor. A reader can still export the diagram, or choose Copy to browser in the storage panel for an editable copy of their own.

Only a cloud diagram can be shared, and cloud diagrams are part of nifdi Pro, so the owner needs Pro. The people on the roster do not: someone on the Free plan can open and edit a diagram shared with them, with the permission the owner gave.

If the owner’s Pro plan ends, the diagram becomes read-only for everyone on the roster, whatever their permission. Open sessions turn read-only without a reload, and the Read-only badge says why. Anyone on the roster can still choose Copy to browser. When the owner upgrades again, each person’s permission applies again.

Removing someone from the roster ends any session they have open on the diagram, and stops them opening it again. Changing someone’s permission takes effect in their open session too: it reconnects with the new permission.
